About Macy
Hello! My name is Macy. Chinese is my native language — I speak both Mandarin and Cantonese fluently. I grew up immersed in the language and culture, and later expanded my academic and professional experience in the U.S., where I earned my degree in Computer Science from Boston University and now work as a Product Manager at a leading tech company. Because I’ve navigated learning and working across languages myself, I understand the challenges students face and know how to explain Chinese in a clear, approachable way. My goal is to help learners build confidence, whether you’re starting with the basics, preparing for exams, or aiming to sharpen your conversational fluency.

As a native speaker of both Mandarin and Cantonese, I tailor my lessons to each student’s goals and level — whether you’re a complete beginner, preparing for exams, or looking to refine conversational fluency. My teaching method combines structured learning (vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation) with practical application through dialogue, cultural context, and real-life examples.
A typical lesson includes a short review of previous material, introduction of new vocabulary and sentence structures, and plenty of guided practice through conversation or role-play. I often include cultural notes to make the language more engaging and memorable.
What sets me apart is my ability to explain complex ideas simply and my focus on building confidence in communication, not just memorization. Because I also studied in English at a high academic level, I understand the challenges of learning a second language and can bridge concepts clearly.
My lessons are for learners of all ages and backgrounds from students who want academic support, to professionals preparing for business interactions, to anyone interested in Chinese language and culture.
