About JIYU
As a native Chinese speaker currently pursuing a Master of Teaching at Curtin University, I am passionate about teaching because I understand the personal hurdles of mastering a new language. My own journey as an English as a Second Language speaker has taught me that empathy and native-speaker interaction are the keys to success. I want to use my professional training and cultural background to make Mandarin accessible, engaging, and rewarding for others.

My 45-minute lessons prioritize active communication and cultural immersion, ensuring you learn Mandarin as it is actually spoken. By combining linguistic drills with insights into Chinese culture, I help students of all ages and levels (up to advanced learners) gain confidence through direct practice with a native speaker. These sessions are designed to be interactive and practical, available either online or in-person across Perth.
