About Angela
Hello! My name is Angela, and I am a proud Child of Deaf Adults (CODA), with American Sign Language (ASL) being my first language. Growing up in a Deaf household, ASL has always been an essential part of my life, shaping my passion for communication, accessibility, and connecting with others.
My educational journey began early, as I earned my associate’s degree in Criminal Justice while still in high school. I later earned my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with minors in Psychology and Business, followed by my Master of Social Work from Howard University. I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Social Work (DSW), further expanding my knowledge and commitment to advocacy, education, and serving diverse communities.
Professionally, I am a licensed social worker and therapist with experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. My academic and professional experiences have strengthened my communication skills, patience, and ability to adapt to different learning styles.
Growing up navigating both the Deaf and hearing communities has given me a unique perspective on the importance of communication and accessibility. As a CODA, I understand firsthand how meaningful language can be in building relationships, fostering understanding, and creating inclusive environments.
Teaching ASL is more than sharing a skill with others. It is an opportunity to share a language and culture that have been part of my identity since childhood. I strive to create a welcoming, engaging, and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, practicing their skills, and growing in confidence.
I look forward to helping you develop your ASL skills and being part of your learning journey!

My American Sign Language (ASL) lessons are designed to be engaging, interactive, and personalized to meet each student’s individual learning needs and goals. As a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA), ASL is my first language, and I bring both personal experience and cultural understanding into every lesson.
Whether you are a beginner learning the basics, a family member wanting to communicate more effectively with a Deaf loved one, or someone looking to strengthen your existing ASL skills, my goal is to create a comfortable and supportive learning environment.
My lessons focus on building vocabulary, improving receptive and expressive signing skills, developing conversational confidence, and understanding Deaf culture. I believe learning ASL goes beyond memorizing signs. It is about building meaningful connections and developing effective communication skills.
I understand that everyone learns differently, which is why I adjust my teaching methods to each student’s learning style, pace, and goals. Lessons may include interactive conversations, visual demonstrations, real-life scenarios, and opportunities to practice signing.
My ultimate goal is for every student to leave each lesson feeling more confident, knowledgeable, and excited about their ASL journey.
