About Lucas
I am currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in London and seeking a part-time role to help support my studies.
About me: I am originally from the south of France (cagnes-sur-mer), and moved to NYC at the age of 12. I am therefore perfectly bilingual in english and french. In 2019, in moved to Madrid where I earned my Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and taught french to others to support myself. I have recently moved to London, and hope to continue teaching.
Experience: My very first student was my little brother, as I spent most summers walking him through grammar books. This continued in high school where I started an afterschool club to help my classmates study for the french IB exams. I then tutored for 4 years in Madrid, where I was able to refine my teaching skills and form a multitude of concise curriculums for students of all levels.

My sessions focus on 3 main things to approach learning the french language:
1. Pattern recognition:
I take a very pattern recognition based approach to teaching the french language. The french language can seem complicated at first, but it is my view that like other latin based languages, there is an underlying structure that can lead to understanding of the language instead of short-term memorization of words and conjugation.
2. Conversational French
French as a spoken language is much simpler spoken than written, for example -ais, -ait, -aient, -é, -er, are all pronounced the same. The importance of understanding french and speaking it is often underestimated, and many will take it for years and still struggle to order a croissant in Paris. My lessons will focus on ability to understand and converse in french, as I believe that will also be conducive to increased spelling ability.
3. Culture
France is a place of rich art and culture, and I use it as a tools to promote learning. I try and link a part of french culture with the interests of the student (whether it be cooking, theatre, movies, music, fashion, or like my last student: Mbappé and Wemby), as it leads to genuine interest by the student to learn. Me and my last student would decipher Mbappé interviews, and i never saw him more motivated to see what he were saying. Establishing personal connection creates the potential for natural learning opportunities to occur, and is a core part of my philosophy.
Over the last four years, I have taught beginners to very advanced student, and all curriculums will in different ways reflect the approach explained above.
