About Emma
I am a certified Ontario Teacher and recent graduate of the Bachelor of Education program at Western University, with a strong background in music and education. As a lifelong musician, I am passionate about helping students build confidence, develop their skills, and discover the creativity and joy that comes with understanding music.
I believe that learning should be engaging, supportive, and accessible to every student. My teaching experience has allowed me to work with a wide range of learners, and I enjoy adapting my approach to meet each student's individual goals, learning style, and experience level.
Whether you are beginning your music theory journey, preparing for an exam, or looking to strengthen your understanding of musical concepts, I strive to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and growing as musicians.
My goal is to make music theory approachable and meaningful by connecting concepts to real music, practical applications, and each student's personal interests.

I believe that music theory should be practical, engaging, and accessible to every student. My lessons are designed to build confidence while helping students understand the "why" behind musical concepts, rather than simply memorizing rules.
I adapt every lesson to each student's goals, experience, and learning style. I create personalized lessons that meet you where you are.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material before introducing a new concept through clear explanations, visual examples, and guided practice. Students have plenty of opportunities to ask questions, complete exercises together, and apply what they've learned using written examples and musical excerpts. I also provide practice strategies and optional homework to reinforce learning between lessons.
As a qualified Ontario Certified Teacher with a Bachelor of Education and a strong background in music, I use evidence-based teaching strategies to make learning clear and enjoyable. My classroom experience has taught me how to break complex ideas into manageable steps and adapt instruction for diverse learners, including students who benefit from additional structure or different learning approaches.
Lessons are available for students of all ages and experience levels, including:
* Beginners learning music theory for the first time
* Elementary and secondary school music students
* Students preparing for RCM music theory examinations
* Instrumentalists and vocalists wanting to strengthen their theoretical knowledge
* Adult learners returning to music or exploring theory as a personal interest
My goal is to create a supportive, encouraging learning environment where students gain both the knowledge and confidence to succeed in music theory and apply it to their musical journey.
