Music Theory, Ear Training, and Choral Singing with an Orchestra Conductor and Conservatory Professor – A Comprehensive Training for All Levels

My Teaching Approach

Passionate about musical education, I tailor my teaching to the needs and goals of each student, whether they are beginners, passionate amateurs, or aspiring professionals.
My approach combines rigor with the joy of learning in a lighthearted manner, emphasizing deep and exhaustive understanding, and most importantly, practical application!
Techniques and Teaching Methods

My method is based on a pragmatic and rigorous approach, rooted in real repertoire. The goal is to understand both the substance and the form of each concept, to know what we are doing, why we are doing it, and how to apply it effectively. Far from mechanical learning, my teaching focuses on deep comprehension to develop a free and expressive musical practice.

Ear Training in a Real Musical Context : Singing exercises, melodic and harmonic dictations based on repertoire pieces, to develop the ability to hear and feel music naturally.
Systematic and Efficient Note Reading : Training in all clefs using a simple yet effective method, overcoming the tedious aspect of reading music and acquiring fluency.
Precise and Rigorous Rhythm Reading : Exercises focused on rhythmic accuracy and efficiency, ensuring clarity and independence when reading a score.
In-Depth Repertoire Analysis : Exploring works in all their aspects (harmony, form, historical context) to fully grasp their internal logic.
Applied Music Theory ️: Every theoretical concept is immediately practiced in a real musical context for intuitive and lasting assimilation.

The goal? To develop a complete musical mastery, where rigor and understanding lead to a free and expressive interpretation.
No mechanical learning! We understand the music in order to play, sing, and interpret it with confidence and intention.

Typical Lesson Structure

Each session is structured yet flexible, adapting to the student’s expectations and level:

Aural and Vocal Warm-up : Exercises for interval recognition, rhythmic precision, and intonation, tailored to the student’s needs.
Music Theory and Sight-Reading : Working on note reading in different clefs, rhythmic accuracy, modes, harmony, and counterpoint.
Repertoire Analysis and Contextualization : Studying a piece or excerpt based on the student’s interests (Baroque, Romantic, Modern, etc.).
Choral Singing and Interpretation (Optional) : Focusing on phrasing, diction, and expressiveness through polyphonic works.
Practical Application : Exercises applied to the student’s vocal or instrumental repertoire for a meaningful and effective learning experience.

What Makes My Teaching Unique?

️ Professional Experience : Orchestra conductor, choir director, and conservatory professor.
️ Tailored Pedagogy : Custom-made lessons based on each student’s specific needs.
️ Versatility : Music theory, analysis, music history, and choral singing.
️ Exam and Competition Preparation : Comprehensive theoretical and practical reinforcement for conservatory students and musicology majors.
