To give you a brief summary of my work to date, I am a trumpet player and composer/producer based in South East London, alumni of Trinity College Of Music. My musical experience has seen me performing extensively and touring with notable artists such as Jamie Cullum, Paolo Nutini and Blur. My composition portfolio includes work for orchestras, brass ensemble and strings- with extensive work in the commercial sector, and commissions from the Institute Of Education, BBC Radio2 and London Jazz Festival.
Over the past 10 years I have grown my teaching experience across many ages ranges and environments. Over the past 6 years I have worked with Greenwich Music Hub to lead and implement their Wider Access tuition for Yr 3 and 4 students. I developed this to work directly with a couple of schools- most notably Middle Park Primary, leading the music provision in both whole class and instrumental groups, and setting up ensembles within the school. This tuition involved trumpet, trombone, lower brass and guitar.
I have also lead school Big Bands, Brass Ensembles and rock bands for the borough in their Saturday centres.
At a higher education level, I have led workshops and been a guest lecturer at Royal Academy Of Music, Trinity College of Music, Purcell School and Middlesex University. At the Royal Academy- I have lead modules on the Bachelor Of Music course, focused on composition and integration of technology.
My other relevant skills include arranging and composition, which are often applied to build on existing school ensembles and extend dynamic new repertoire. My focus as an instrumentalist is in the jazz tradition, and I believe this is an important genre for both musicianship, aural skills and ensemble skills in young brass players. I also have background in music technology and believe this is a valuable part of being a forward thinking musician.
