Teaching Method and Techniques:
As a K-12 music educator, my piano teaching method is rooted in a balanced, student-centered approach that blends classical technique with creative expression. I emphasize a strong foundation in music literacy, proper posture and finger technique, and ear training. I incorporate elements of the Kodály and Orff methodologies when appropriate, making lessons engaging, multisensory, and developmentally appropriate. I tailor instruction to the student’s learning style, whether that means using rote learning, visual aids, or improvisation exercises.

A Typical Lesson Plan:
A standard 45-minute piano lesson includes:

Warm-up & Technique (5–10 min): Scales, arpeggios, or finger exercises to build strength and dexterity.

Repertoire (20–25 min): Work on assigned pieces—this may involve reading, interpreting dynamics and phrasing, and correcting posture or hand position.

Musicianship & Theory (10 min): Ear training, rhythm work, or music theory integrated into the lesson to reinforce concepts.

Creative Time (5–10 min): Improvisation, composition, or musical games—especially important for younger students to build enthusiasm and ownership.
Each lesson ends with a clear practice plan for the week, setting realistic, achievable goals.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
With a background in classroom music education and experience teaching all age levels, I bring a comprehensive understanding of developmental stages and learning psychology. My strength lies in connecting with students where they are and building intrinsic motivation through positive reinforcement, tailored lesson pacing, and creative engagement. I also integrate cross-curricular links and technology when appropriate, which enriches the learning experience.

Who the Lessons Are For:
I teach piano to students of all levels, from complete beginners to early advanced players, across all ages—from young children to adults. My specialty is in guiding beginners and intermediate students, particularly those in elementary to high school. I also work well with students who benefit from differentiated instruction, such as those with learning differences or those in gifted programs.
