About Ash
I'm a professional sound designer, music producer and sound engineer and have been producing electronic music for over 25 years. I also hold a First Class Honours Degree in Sound Art and Design, attained from the London College of Communication.
I am also a professional voice-over artist and have voiced many radio, television and cinema commercials, console game characters and explainer videos. I have a vast amount of experience with music production hardware and software. I've also been a DJ for many years and have released music on vinyl, CD and online/digital. I specialise in Ableton Live and AKAI MPCs and have a successful YouTube channel providing in-depth tutorials mostly for the AKAI MPC Sample, MPC X, MPC Live and MPC One. I am also an expert AKAI Force user and have owned a huge range of other hardware, from samplers to synths, sequencers and modular eurorack systems.

I teach online via Skype or Zoom and can also visit students in person depending on their location. My approach is simple - I ask all my students to write a concise list of subjects they would like me to cover, rather than use a traditional and limiting curriculum. I do this as my wealth of experience allows me to cover most, if not all areas of music production and that way the lessons are essentially customised for each individual's needs.
My lessons are suitable for anyone with a genuine interest and passion for electronic music production, regardless of their current level of expertise, which I can certainly help to develop further.

Perfect! Ash was great! I had some issues with Zoom and he went way over our time without charging extra so I could still get the full time with him
Perfect! Great setup, really clear guidance, very adaptable way of teaching dependant on the skill level of the student, excellent subject matter expertise and had me up and running in the first session.
Perfect! I highly recommend Ash as a music production teacher, especially for anyone looking to master the Akai MPC. His attentiveness and adaptability make the lesson engaging and perfectly suited to my skill level. His deep knowledge of music production and the MPC's capabilities shines through, and he breaks down complex processes in a way that's easy to grasp. If you're serious about music production and want a teacher who genuinely cares about your progress, he’s the one to go to!
Perfect! Ash is a real guru when it comes to AKAI, a session in person really made a difference. Recommend doing a longer session as it gives room to putting learning into practice.
- John and Kristina were very welcoming and friendly. I felt John listened well and understood what I demonstrated to him and he explained clearly and concisely what he wanted to achieve. It was a pleasures to meet and teach him how to use his MPC and he said he got out of the lesson exactly what he’d hoped for.Ash's response :
Perfect! very helpful!!
- Mike was pleasant and attentive and listened to the advice I provided. We covered many things he wanted to learn and he seemed satisfied with the knowledge I imparted.Ash's response :
Perfect! ASH is very experienced within AKAI,he provides a step to step guide allowing the student to fully understand ones desires through his vast content of knowledge, what i enjoyed most was his methods, that somewhat allowed me to work side by side in real time ,,
looking forward to more lessons- Clive responded well to my directions and understood the instructions and methods I taught. He was polite and easy to talk to and I look forward to teaching him again :)Ash's response :

I bought an hour of lesson time from Ash about a year ago so he can teach me the basics of a MPC-X . It took him 30 minutes for him to teach me what I needed to know and told me I could get another 30 minutes sessions whenever I wanted. I never needed it anymore. Highly recommended.
I have multiple times referenced his material to help me get through the learning curve of using the MPC X.
Very informative and always covers all the details thoroughly.
I highly recommend.
A+He knows very well the things he teaches and knows how to explain them the way it should!

I will travel to a students location depending on how far they are from my location.
My only other condition is a minimum booking of 3 hours is required.
In-person teaching is a significantly better experience for most students in comparison to being taught remotely, although my studio is properly set up for you to see and hear me and the equipment I use.
Therefore, the difference in price from my online lessons also covers my travel time, fuel / public transport costs and other charges I may incur, for example ULEZ etc.
