About Suzanne
I have been playing the piano and violin for almost fifteen years. As an artist, I enjoy teaching, performing, and studying music academically. Over the past few years, I have mentored elementary and middle school strings students in West Philadelphia. Effective education and community outreach are both very important to me. Within the realm of performance, I have played in solo, chamber, and ensemble settings. I was a prizewinner in the Crescendo International Music competition and American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music. In addition to playing classical music, I have also performed sacred music professionally. While in high school, I served as the pianist and music director of Springfield Baptist Church. I continue to play piano and violin at churches in the Philadelphia region. As a music major at the University of Pennsylvania, I have studied music theory and the history of music. I particularly enjoy listening to music from the Romantic period. My favorite composer is Antonin Dvorak!

I believe that students should play an active role in their learning. As a tutor, I collaborate with students and their families to design a learning plan that works best for them. I am very flexible, and will happily make any changes necessary to improve students' learning experiences.
As an instructor, I strive to form meaningful relationships with my students. In addition to getting to know about their academic interests, I also care about their hobbies and passions. Trust and respect are essential to building a positive learning environment that meets students' needs.
I can create lessons for students of all ages! When crafting lessons, I establish connections between the content and students' lives. I also draw on multimedia to form lessons.
