About Matthew Kester
I am a 24 year old with a passion for life. I have been surrounded with music my whole life, having started violin lessons at the age of 7. In the past 18 years of my violin journey I have had the privilege of being a part of several orchestral ensembles, involved myself in several music competitions, and begun my violin teaching career. I love all genres of music, and am currently learning how to play jazz and folk music in a band I recently joined. In my spare time I enjoy socialising with friends, eating out and attending social events, as well as staying inside, watching series and reading a book. I am a friendly, sociable person, and I enjoy meeting new people, making friends and sharing my passion for music.

I treat each pupil differently depending on their individual needs and what pace they wish to go at. Also, students have varying goals so I will customise each lesson to the individual pupil's needs and wishes. Lessons will be interesting and fun. I am open to explore varying styles and genres of violin music, and strongly believe that the pupil has a say in what direction and what goals they wish to reach in their violin playing journey. I will try to teach the basics in a way that can be learnt fairly quickly. Lessons will be either 30 minutes or 1 hour in length, you decide! I am a BMus graduate in violin performance and have good experience in classical solo performance as well as ensemble/orchestral performance. I teach lessons for age 7 upwards (nobody is too old to play!), and across all levels of playing. I look forward to meeting you all!

He is such a gifted violinist. His love for music is truly evident in his enthusiastic teaching techniques. He is calm, and exceedingly patient with everyone and encouraged me to put in my very best effort in my music. He utilizes such a positive behavior to interact with all his students.

Matthew is an excellent teacher. He was my desk partner in an orchestra a few years back and I was 13 at the time. He helped me soooo much and taught me so many new skills that I still use to this day. As well as being a talented musician, he is also trustworthy and kind to all those around him.
