About Lauren
I began learning piano 14 years ago and since then have had opportunities to be involved in 4 years of grade school music class, 4 years of band/orchestra, 3 years of involvement in a hand chimes choir, 1 year of one-on-one piano teaching in high school, 3 years of college as a Music Education major, and opportunities to sing and play the piano at churches across the Midwest and Southeast United States. Teaching myself piano for the first five years of learning, combined with three different piano teachers since then, and three years of studying Music Education in college has equipped me with many effective styles for teaching music.

Rather than only sticking with a basic lesson book, I believe students should also have fun at the piano with drills for technique, fun piano pieces from movies or video games, music theory, and maybe even a little music history. The religious pianist and church pianist greatly benefits if he/she chooses to learn how to play and improvise church hymns.
