About Kaylee
Scales and arpeggios are usually the least important part of learning to play the piano well. Most people believe that technique must precede musicality, but I flip that idea on its head.
My approach blends ear training with sight reading so you develop a complete musical intuition. Having taught 325 students, I know how to navigate the common hurdles of hand independence and rhythm.
My UCLA training ensures you get a solid foundation in mechanics, while my 8 years of experience keeps the path clear and accessible. I work closely with students to master pedaling technique without making it a chore.
Whether you are picking up the keys for the first time or returning after a break, we move at your pace. You will find that my style is very hands-on and encouraging. I am here to help you turn those notes into something you genuinely love to play.

Sight reading is often easier when you stop looking at the page and focus on the shape of the music. Many students think they need to memorize every note, but I show you how to read the intent behind the ink. My lessons prioritize rhythm and timing as the heartbeat of your practice sessions. You get free access to my annotated practice notes after every lesson to keep your progress moving forward.
Since graduating from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, I have found that structured notes save hours of frustration. We spend time building physical coordination through specific exercises that actually sound like music. I really love seeing students finally let go of the tension and start playing with ease.
