About Annabel
I am an undergraduate student at Bath Spa University studying for a joint-honours degree in Music and Psychology. I am about to enter my third and final year at university in September 2020.
First and foremost, I specialise in Music Performance at university with my first instrument being the flute. However I have experience with singing, dancing, piano and music theory. As a musician, I have achieved the following qualifications:
ABRSM Grade 8 Flute (Distinction)
ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory (Distinction)
In addition, I have experience teaching music whilst at university. Currently I am the Musical Director for Bath Spa University Singers Society. This role involves teaching and performing a selection of songs to our members and assisting with the musical decisions within the society. Being a musician has helped develop my organisation and time-management skills; I believe these skills are reflective in my role as a tutor.
My love for music and music theory runs parallel with my love for maths. In 2018, I achieved an A grade in my A Level Maths with Stats qualification. Maths and music are the perfect combination as the two subjects are so similar to each other.
Having never properly tutored in the past, I've gained experience by helping my two younger sisters with school work outside the classroom. Similarly, answering music theory problems to my friends at university has always given me a sense of happiness and pride. Despite having no professional experience in tutoring, you can be sure I will deliver to the best of my ability with passion, understanding and devotion.

My name is Annabel and I'm currently an undergraduate student at Bath Spa University. Primarily, I am able to tutor lessons in ABRSM Music Theory up to and including Grade 5.
Due to the lack of education children have been receiving during the coronavirus pandemic, I would love to help the community by giving my time and experience to those who are struggling during this unpredictable time.
My Methodology:
- Fitting the needs of the individual e.g. focusing on the topics the individual finds difficult or confusing.
- Using drawings, graphs and tables to teach the topic.
- Providing and completing practise exam questions.
As every individual has their own style of learning, I will do my best to tailor each individual to suit their preferences to teaching.
Lessons will be in the form of 1 hour sessions. These lessons can be taught at the student's home and/or via webcam (e.g. Zoom).
