About Johari
My name is Johari Gardner, and I am a multi-instrumentalist (specialty in drums and percussion) who is currently taking a gap year from studying music in university. I have over 15 years of experience in all things music, and have played at the highest level in many genres, including jazz, classical, rock, pop, and gospel. I have also gained recognition and recommendation from multiple Grammy Award winners and nominees. My playing style is very reserved, and I believe that what makes a good musician is the ability to LISTEN! That is why I strongly emphasize the importance of ear training and understanding why the music is doing what it is! Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this!

I strongly believe in positive reinforcement while emphasizing critical thinking and the ability to arrive to the answer yourself. A typical lesson is quite fun and engaging; I'll give instruction, then follow that with practical examples and ear training so that all concepts fully and completely makes sense both conceptually and on-paper.
