About Emily
I am a Master of Social Work candidate with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. I have maintained a 3.92 graduate GPA and bring both academic knowledge and hands-on experience in behavioral health, mental health, and direct patient care.
My professional and clinical background includes behavioral health care planning, case management, mental health assessment, crisis intervention, care coordination, and supervised counseling with children, adolescents, and adults. These experiences allow me to connect psychology concepts to practical, real-world situations and explain challenging material in a way that is approachable and easier to remember.
I am patient, dependable, and committed to creating a comfortable learning environment where students can ask questions without feeling judged or rushed. I tailor sessions to each student’s needs and learning style, whether they are struggling with a particular concept, preparing for an exam, or simply looking to strengthen their understanding of psychology. My goal is for every student to leave our sessions feeling more knowledgeable, prepared, and confident.

I use a supportive, practical teaching approach that breaks down complex psychology concepts into clear, easy-to-understand explanations. I focus on helping students understand the “why” behind theories and terminology rather than relying only on memorization. I also use real-world examples, comparison charts, practice questions, and simple study strategies to reinforce learning.
A typical lesson begins by identifying the topic or concepts the student is struggling with, followed by a clear review of the material, guided examples, and practice applying the information. I adjust each session based on the student’s learning style and goals, whether they need help preparing for an exam, understanding a specific chapter, completing coursework, or reviewing key concepts.
What sets me apart is my graduate-level social work education and hands-on behavioral health experience. I can connect psychology concepts to real clinical and social-service settings, which can make difficult material easier to understand and remember.
My lessons are best suited for high school and college students taking introductory psychology, developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, human behavior, mental health, or related social science courses. I can also help students with study guides, exam preparation, terminology review, and understanding psychological theories and disorders.
