About Olivier
Hi there!
My name is Olivier Soubelet and I am a first-year medical student at Imperial College London. I've always loved sciences in general, and after doing some work experience throughout my education, I decided that I really wanted to use my love for these subjects, to help people better their lives ^^
I've tutored many students throughout high school and during my gap year, a majority of them in Grade 8-9.
I like to think I've got a good experience with exam preparation, especially since I applied as an Independent from France to the UK, which meant I had to spend a lot of time finding the right study techniques and platforms on my own, to successfully get into Uni.
At Imperial, I'm part of the Waterpolo team and practice bouldering, and music on a regular basis.

My tutoring sessions will be structured as follows:
An introductory session, getting to know each other and defining goals with the student. In my opinion, defining specific goals is very important for motivation, and to measure progress.
A study/organizational skills session (can be merged with intro depending on timing), where we will discuss the student's studying and organization techniques and evaluate how well it works, what can be improved. Throughout my education, especially in Med School, I have learned the value of efficient study and organization. Good results come from quality, active study sessions, not 4-hour passive sessions.
Once we have clear goals and a study structure, we can move on to the subject matter. Each session will begin with a 5-10 minute revision on the last session's content, with active recall questions and problems. After that, we will tackle a theme/chapter that the student is struggling with or wants to improve upon. We will use a variety of resources, such as textbooks and past paper questions to improve the student's understanding of the subject. At the end of the sessions, we will spend 5 minutes doing a recap and I will suggest some further reading/ problems the student can interact with to deepen his/her core understanding.
I will measure progress with the initial recall questions, the student's school results, and practice exams that will be done during sessions or independently.
