About Asim
I am a motion designer with over 3 years of industry experience in advertising and branding. I studied BA (Hons) Motion Graphics at Ravensbourne University and began my career freelancing at Deva Studios before joining AKQA, where I mainly worked on campaign and brand identity projects.
I developed a practical understanding of how creative work operates within agency teams, working to tight timelines and collaborating across different disciplines in a fast-paced environment. A large part of my role involved problem solving under constraints, responding to feedback and adapting work to meet client needs through to final delivery.
Alongside my professional work, I’ve become interested in helping others understand how to bridge the gap between education and industry, particularly when it comes to portfolios and early creative development.
I’m based in London and currently work as a freelance motion designer.

My sessions are informal conversations focused on how motion graphics and graphic design work in a real-world context. I work with people as a mentor to help them understand how their education, projects or early creative interests translate into industry practice and I share guidance and feedback based on my experience working in agency environments, including AKQA.
Sessions are typically 60 minutes and shaped by what each person wants to explore. This could include portfolio reviews, career direction or understanding how creative work is approached in professional studios. The focus is less on teaching software step by step and more on helping people think about, develop and position their work in an industry context.
These sessions are for university students, beginners and anyone exploring a path into motion graphics or graphic design.
