My Teaching Approach & Philosophy
As a graduate of Berklee College of Music, professional musician, composer, vocalist, and pianist, I bring a comprehensive understanding of musical artistry, performance, and education to every lesson. My teaching philosophy emphasizes the development of strong technical foundations while nurturing each student's individual creativity, confidence, and artistic expression.
Teaching Methods & Techniques
I believe that music education should be both intellectually enriching and creatively inspiring. My teaching approach is tailored to each student's unique abilities, interests, learning style, and musical aspirations.
My areas of instruction include:
Vocal Coaching: Classical and contemporary vocal techniques, breath support, vocal health, pitch accuracy, ear training, diction, interpretation, and performance confidence.
Piano Instruction: Proper technique, sight-reading, scales, arpeggios, musical interpretation, repertoire development, and expressive performance.
Music Theory & Education: Harmony, rhythm, notation, solfège, ear training, chord progressions, and practical applications of music theory.
Songwriting & Composition: Melody writing, harmonic development, lyrical expression, arranging, improvisation, and cultivating an original artistic voice.
What to Expect During a Typical Lesson
Each lesson is thoughtfully structured around the student's current skill level and personal goals. Sessions generally begin with technical exercises and warm-ups, followed by focused instruction in repertoire, music theory, or creative development.
Students receive individualized feedback, practical exercises, and structured practice recommendations designed to encourage measurable progress between lessons.
I incorporate a combination of traditional music pedagogy, contemporary techniques, and creative exploration to provide a well-rounded musical education.
What Sets Me Apart as a Music Instructor
My background in classical vocal performance, piano, composition, and contemporary music allows me to approach teaching from multiple musical perspectives.
As both a performing artist and composer, I emphasize not only technical proficiency but also the emotional depth, storytelling, and individuality that transform musical knowledge into meaningful artistic expression.
I strive to create a welcoming, encouraging, and intellectually stimulating learning environment where students feel comfortable exploring their abilities, overcoming challenges, and developing their own musical identities.
Who My Lessons Are For
I welcome students of all ages and experience levels, from absolute beginners discovering music for the first time to advanced musicians seeking to refine their technique and artistry.
Whether you are preparing for an audition, developing your vocal abilities, learning piano, strengthening your understanding of music theory, or composing original music, I will work with you to create a personalized educational experience aligned with your goals.
My ultimate goal is to help students become confident, knowledgeable, expressive, and independent musicians while fostering a lifelong appreciation for the art of music.
