About Shanthi Priya
I am a Lecturer working in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Monash University, Melbourne. I have a PhD in Applied Chemistry received from RMIT University. I have done my Bachelors and Masters with a specialisation in Chemistry. I have an adequate teaching experience in teaching chemistry subjects from foundation level to high school to uni level.

Personally, I am an enthusiastic learner and a good communicator, with a strong zeal to contribute to the teaching and to enlighten the young minds for better life. Beyond striving to ensure that students learn the fundamental content of the courses I teach, my teaching philosophy is to foster an environment that promotes enthusiasm, life-long learning, organized study, confidence building, connectivity to the real world, and active student learning. I believe in offering full dedication and effective output always, and I truly enjoy teaching and implicating the values of education in students, which I feel is a wonderful opportunity in building up their careers. I have a very helpful personality and take pride in assisting students in creative learning and thinking so that they will be happy with for years to come.
The Quality Teaching model has been a foundation of my planning and teaching implementation throughout my teaching career. It encourages me to place importance on knowing students’ learning needs to best plan lesson sequences. I believe that learning is a multifaceted experience and the flow of teaching and learning should be bi-directional. Hence, I prefer active learning approaches in my teaching to engage students directly with their learning.
