I give lessons to other undergraduate students but my main focus is pre-university (A Level and AP) students. I will have a high focus on writing techniques. Most importantly, however, I will try and spark my students' interest in History. This I will do by combining different methods of learning, rather than just utilising one. We will look at videos, primary source texts, historical analyses, podcasts, photographs and much more.

My particular strengths are debate and conversation. I will put a lot of effort into engaging aloud with my students. This won't just help them prepare for class, and indeed interviews, but also help them strengthen their grasp of source material.

In terms of the structure of my lessons (course flow) I have two 'courses.' A five lesson and a ten lesson course. The five lesson course only focuses on one of Modern American or European History.

I fully believe that history isn't as much about remembering dates and facts as it is constructing lucid and compelling arguments. My class structures reflect this belief.

The 'Five Lesson' structure for A Level, Pre-U and AP Students is as follows:

1. Historical Methods I (Source Work and Historiography) (1 hr 30 mins)
- How to look at an consider historical documents and begin to form (in one's head) connections and arguments.

2. Historical Methods II (Essay Writing) (1 hr)
- I will explain the PEARL approach to argumentative writing. I'll also teach how to properly cite material and improve the implementation of language.

3 A. European History I. (2 hours)
- Here we will begin a two class factual crash course on German Unification and the Origins of the First World War.

3 B. American History I. (2 hours)
- If American History is selected we will begin a two class factual crash course on The Andrew Jackson Presidency, Origins of the Civil War, The Civil War and Reconstruction.

4. Focus Class II (2 hours)
- We will build upon the information learnt in the preceding class and start applying it to previous exam questions.

5. 'Practice' Exam (2 hours)
- Before Class I'll ask you to sit, in real time, a practice examination. I will, using real Pre-U grading notes, mark the paper. During this class we will go through your answers in depth and look at ways that we can improve them.

The ten class schedule is, essentially, an expanded version of this blueprint; allowing for more time to focus on the necessary facts and figures.
