About Oscar
When not studying mathematics myself, I thoroughly enjoy being able to teach what I have learned to those around me. I am extremely passionate about the way maths is taught; the further I have progressed down my own journey of learning the more I understand that the inherent difficulty in mathematics arises from the way it is explained.
Since Summer 2025, I have worked with several students in preparing for GCSEs and A-Levels, acquiring 100+ total hours of experience. Over the course of the last year, I improved all of their grades substantially, with some grades increasing by ~40%. I also have a thorough understanding of mark scheme requirements and common examiner pitfalls across AQA, Edexcel, OCR and other major UK boards, allowing me to iron out all creases and maximize the amount of marks gained.

Specializing in GCSE & A-level Maths and Further Maths, I structure each lesson with a skeleton of both practice and past-paper questions designed to probe understanding of a topic from multiple angles. Where gaps emerge, I use targeted follow-up questions to help the student build genuine conceptual connections rather than simply filling in answers.
Mathematics can be taught — and genuinely understood — in a surprising variety of ways. For me, the joy of maths lies in describing the same abstract structure through completely different lenses. This is precisely how I tailor my lessons to each student; I pay close attention to how each student naturally thinks about a problem, then explain new concepts in their own terms — guiding them to build a mental picture that genuinely makes sense to them.
