About Grete
Grete is a dedicated and passionate educator who brings her love for the outdoors and adventure into the classroom. She is devoted to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment, and recognizes the importance of meeting the unique needs of diverse learners and ensuring that all students have equal access to educational opportunities.
Grete's educational background includes a B.S. in Health Education with a focus on community development and reproductive health care from San Francisco State University, and a Master of Arts in Education with a specialization in math education for middle school from Sierra Nevada College. Grete taught middle school math and science for over 10 years and spent a year and a half developing mathematics curriculum and coaching math teachers with Carnegie Learning.
In her teaching approach, Grete prioritizes a fun, interactive, and constructivist methodology that empowers students to take charge of their learning and thrive. She cherishes the unique approaches to education offered by small independent schools and is deeply devoted to fostering community stewardship, critical thinking, independence, and a genuine love of learning. Grete focuses on teaching students how to apply what they learn and enabling them to become active, engaged, and successful global citizens. I create engaging lessons where students engage in critical thinking and have fun learning math. I use a variety of teaching techniques, including inquiry based learning, exploration, and play! I have taught math in classrooms for over 10 years and believe everyone can learn math. I specialize in middle school math and high school algebra. I help students develop a strong number sense and overcome their limiting math beliefs.
