About Jessica
I have been teaching in my own classroom for 17 years, taught in college classes as an undergraduate student, and am my school's official tutor for students who need help outside of school hours. This includes evening and weekend hours from home through our virtual learning platform.
I am a mom, swim coach, and sponsor clubs at my school. I love working with young people, and remember that you are far more than the content you are trying to learn. I will likely call you "kiddo" unless you ask me not to. :)

As an 8th grade science teacher in Florida, I am responsible every year for ensuring that my students understand all of the content from our comprehensive science units in Life, Physical, and Earth/Space science. As someone who has been passionate about science since I was a kid, it's fun for me to make sure they understand the connections between the sciences, as well. I like to teach science as a story and use graphics to help students visualize concepts and organize those concepts into schema that are easier to remember.
I also really enjoy math and explain processes in step-by-step modelling, explaining why things work the way they do instead of expecting young minds to simply memorize processes.
