About Abby
Originally from Texas, I am a dance educator, artist, and scholar based in Buffalo, NY. I hold my BFA in Dance from Sam Houston State University with a concentration in Pilates Teaching Methods and recently graduated from the University at Buffalo--SUNY with my MFA in Dance with emphases in Dance Pedagogy and Somatics.
I have been dancing for 20+ years with training in Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary, Modern, Jazz, and Musical Theatre Dance and have 9 years of experience teaching Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary, Modern, and Choreography. I have performed and presented my choreographic work in a variety of venues, shared academic research focused in Dance, and taught across Texas and New York State.

I have 9 years of experience working with students of all ages and levels of previous experience with dance. I welcome those who have been dancing all their life, as well as those who have never danced and are curious about it as a creative outlet, mindfulness practice, fitness activity, or a combination of all three!
Regardless of the genre, I approach teaching by working with the student to cultivate a healthy, safe, and empowering learning environment with lesson plans that align with the student's needs, interests, and goals. I encourage students to progress at the pace that is healthiest for them individually, while also encouraging them as they make progress towards their goals!
