About Andrew
My name is Andrew, a graduate of neuroscience at the College of William & Mary and a current medical student at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. I help medical students prepare for their USMLE standardized exams as well as their in-house exams. I have been recognized by many of my peers as an outstanding student teacher and have seen great success and growth in all of my students. With 10 years of teaching experience, I've honed consistent and reliable strategies that focus on implementing things such as active recall, spaced repetition, and interleaving that maximizes efficiency when studying so that you have free time to do other things you enjoy. I have a no BS approach to teaching that has proven to help many medical students pass their in-house medical school exams and the USMLE Step 1 board exam. I teach with a unique approach to answering vignettes that first consists of assessing where the student is at in terms of their ability to generate a diagnosis based off of limited clinical information in a given test question. We use this approach to pinpoint both content gaps as well as test taking strategies. We will then collaborate to develop a study plan that incorporates research-proven study skills such as active recall and spaced repetition. My lessons are for any student in medical school that is struggling with content or is looking to increase their scores on their NBME exams to pass Step 1.
