About Lucy
Hi! My name is Lucy, and I am a medical student with a passion for science, education, and mentorship. I graduated Cum Laude from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. During my undergraduate studies, I completed rigorous coursework including Calculus I and II, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry I and II, Physics I and II, Genetics, Biochemistry, and numerous upper-level biology courses.
In addition to my academic work, I played collegiate soccer while maintaining a strong academic record and spent two years working as a tutor. These experiences taught me the importance of discipline, time management, and perseverance—skills that I now help my students develop alongside subject mastery.
I particularly enjoy working with students who have ambitious goals, whether that means improving their performance in a science class, preparing for college-level coursework, or pursuing a career in healthcare or medicine. Having successfully navigated challenging science courses, standardized exams, and the medical school application process, I understand both the academic and personal challenges students may face.
Most importantly, I believe that confidence is one of the biggest predictors of success. In my experience, many students are far more capable than they realize. Sometimes the difference between struggling and succeeding is having someone who can help them build confidence, develop effective study strategies, and recognize their own potential. My goal is not only to help students improve their understanding of the material but also to empower them to approach future challenges with confidence and independence.

As a medical student, I have spent years mastering challenging science courses and developing effective study strategies for exams. My tutoring approach focuses on helping students understand concepts rather than simply memorizing facts. I believe that working through practice questions is one of the most effective ways to learn, identify knowledge gaps, and build confidence.
A typical lesson involves reviewing course material, working through practice problems together, and discussing the student's thought process step-by-step. If a student has recently taken a quiz or test, I enjoy reviewing missed questions with them because learning from mistakes is often the fastest path to improvement. My goal is not only to help students arrive at the correct answer but also to understand why it is correct and how to approach similar questions in the future.
What sets me apart is my recent experience succeeding in rigorous science courses and standardized exams. As a medical student, I have taken countless tests and understand the challenges students face when learning complex material. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their abilities.
I am available to tutor students in math and science subjects at all levels, from elementary and middle school through high school and college-level courses. Whether you need help with biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, or general science coursework, I am happy to tailor lessons to your individual learning style and goals.
