About Shreya
I am currently a first-year medical student at the University of Manchester, pursuing a degree in medicine. I completed my A-levels at one of the top-ranked secondary schools in the country, where I gained invaluable experience in navigating the demands of high academic standards. During my studies, I achieved top grades, securing 9s in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics. This accomplishment has provided me with a deep understanding of the strategies and dedication required to excel in these challenging subjects. During my medicine journey, my efforts were met with great success, as I secured interviews at all the institutions to which I applied and ultimately received four offers. My passion for education expands beyond personal achievement. I have a genuine love for tutoring and take great pride in helping others in reaching their full potential. Tutoring is not just a job for me; it is an opportunity to inspire confidence and foster a deep understanding of the material in my students. I am committed to supporting my students as they strive to achieve their academic goals, and I find immense satisfaction in witnessing their progress and success.

I have actively participated in my school’s mentoring programmes, where I provided guidance to students preparing for their GCSEs in Biology. My commitment to academic mentoring extends to leadership roles within my school’s medical society, where I have contributed significantly by delivering presentations on crucial topics such as medical school interviews and medical ethics. Having recently navigated the medical school application process, I bring firsthand experience and a wealth of insights. Throughout my journey, I received invaluable support from a diverse group of mentors, including doctors, tutors, and current medical students. This exposure has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to create a compelling and successful medical school application. In addition, I have also taken an active role in advising Year 12 students on various aspects of the medical school application process. This includes guidance on the UCAT, crafting a strong personal statement, selecting the right universities, and excelling in interviews. My goal is to share my knowledge and experiences to help aspiring medical students achieve their own academic and professional aspirations. I am committed to adapting my teaching methods to suit their individual needs. By providing tailored resources and adjusting my approach, I create an environment that fosters both understanding and enthusiasm for the subject matter. I firmly believe that mastering exam techniques is as crucial as understanding the content itself. Therefore, I integrate regular practice with exam-style questions into my lessons, allowing students to refine their skills and develop the ability to secure top marks across a variety of question formats. Along with content mastery, I emphasise the importance of application. I guide my students in making connections between different sub-topics within a subject, enabling them to see the broader picture and apply their knowledge more effectively. My teaching strategy begins with an initial assessment to gauge the student’s current level of understanding. Based on this assessment, I carefully plan lessons that target their specific needs, ensuring a personalised and effective learning experience.
