  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in biology started early during my academic years, especially when I began understanding how topics like human anatomy, physiology and genetics connect directly to real-life processes. That curiosity naturally grew into a deeper interest in the subject. I started private tutoring when I began helping classmates and junior students with difficult topics. That’s when I realized I enjoy simplifying complex biology concepts and making them easy to understand. Over time, this developed into offering structured online biology lessons focused on clear explanations and exam preparation.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I work as a biology tutor, offering online biology lessons focused on core areas like human physiology, cell biology, and genetics, along with exam-oriented preparation. My teaching approach focuses on concept clarity rather than memorization. I help students connect topics so they understand how different systems work together, which makes learning more logical and easier to retain. I particularly enjoy teaching physiology because it explains how the body works in a structured way. While some topics require memorization, I use diagrams, patterns, and simplified explanations to make them easier and more engaging for students preparing for school exams.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I was inspired by my teachers who focused on clarity and understanding rather than just completing the syllabus. They had a way of explaining difficult topics in a simple and structured manner, which made a big difference. That approach influenced my teaching style. As a biology tutor, I aim to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and fully understanding the topic.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor needs strong subject knowledge, but more importantly, the ability to explain concepts clearly and in a structured way. Patience is essential because every student learns at a different pace. A tutor should also be adaptable, adjusting their teaching style based on the student’s level and goals. Most importantly, a good tutor focuses on helping students improve their understanding, boost their confidence, and achieve better results in exams.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

During my own studies, I initially found some biology topics overwhelming because of the amount of information involved. What helped me improve was shifting from memorization to understanding patterns and concepts. Later, when I started teaching, I applied the same approach with my students. I’ve seen many students go from being confused to confidently solving exam questions once they understand the logic behind the topic. That experience strongly shaped my teaching method.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

One of the biggest challenges in biology is managing the large amount of content, especially for students preparing for exams. I faced this myself, particularly in topics that required both understanding and memorization. Over time, I developed techniques to simplify learning, focusing on concept clarity first and then structured revision. As a tutor, I now help students overcome this challenge by breaking topics into manageable parts and using efficient revision strategies.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My main passion is teaching biology in a way that makes complex topics simple and easy to understand. I enjoy the moment when a student goes from confusion to clarity, and starts feeling confident about the subject. I am also interested in continuously improving my teaching methods to make learning more effective and engaging for students.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P)?

As a biology tutor, I focus on clarity, structure, and results. My sessions are designed to help students understand concepts deeply, retain information effectively, and perform well in exams. I adapt my teaching style based on each student’s needs and level. Students can expect well-organized lessons, clear explanations, and a supportive environment that helps them improve both their confidence and their academic performance.
