About Francois
I’m a music producer, TV and media composer, and lecturer at the award-winning Pointblank Music School in London.
Since 2008, I’ve been releasing music and performing internationally — both as a solo artist under the name Franz Kirmann and with my post-classical/electronic crossover trio Piano Interrupted, with whom I toured Europe between 2013 and 2017.
As a composer for screen, my credits include:
• BBC prime-time drama “McMafia”
• BAFTA-winning documentary “Locked In: Breaking The Silence” (2021)
• Channel 4 documentary series “Seeking Satoshi” (2025)
Alongside my work as a producer and composer, I teach Ableton Live, production analysis, and composition for media at Pointblank Music School London (TEF Gold 2023), where I’ve guided countless students in finding their creative voice.

Perfect! François has an incredibly inspiring background in electronic music. It's absolute gold when this knowledge is combined with his teaching style that meets you with a calmness and generosity of spirit. After the first the lesson I had much greater clarity on how to approach a project I'd been quite blocked on. It's exciting to see the potential of how my speed of learning can become much more targeted and efficient than if I were going solo. Highly recommended.

I'm myself a music teacher. Francois made me understand complex concepts of electronic music on software, and how to apply them, for different purposes (producing and mixing mostly). He always has a concrete example with a band to support those concepts.
I Highly recommend him has a teacher for these reasons and for his friendly way to teach.Having found Francois through this platform I feel like I’ve totally lucked out. In 6 months of regular sessions Francois has educated me with everything from the basics of Ableton to shortcuts. He has helped me patch and sync my hardware semi-modular synths together and imparted a valuable approach to recording and editing them. He’s been a huge help in producing my first proper track. On top of this he’s a friendly, calm, patient and encouraging tutor with exceptional knowledge and taste in electronic music. I highly recommend working with Francois!

Details
Lessons are £45 / hour but usually go over by 15 to 20 minutes. The free lesson is short and online (or a call) but is really there for us to get to know each other and determine your goal with your music and how best to achieve it.
The video below is a performance we did with my project Piano Interrupted using Ableton Live as an instrument interacting with a piano and cello.
