About Pim
With 10 years of experience as a composer in the world of media music, I now love sharing my knowledge in an accessible and enthusiastic way. Music education is something I deeply care about. I believe it's important that you learn how to translate your musical ideas into the sound you envision. I’ll listen to your work and goals, and based on that, we’ll explore what we can work on together. I’m always curious to hear what you're currently creating. My teaching style is personal, patient, and supportive, tailored to your needs and interests.

We’ll start with a free introductory session. I’d love to learn what drives you, what kind of music you want to make, and where you’d like to grow. I bring real-world experience to the table: I’ve mentored many interns and coached fellow composers in media composition, ranging from hybrid orchestral scores to pop-driven productions. Depending on your goals, we can focus on topics such as:
1. Creative and technical aspects of (media) music
- Turning a musical sketch into a polished soundtrack for animation, film, or commercials
- Working in DAWs: Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, Pro Tools Ultimate
- Mixing: balance, EQ, compression, depth and space
- Using plugins and production tools effectively
- Music theory tailored to your style
- Orchestral workflows: from MIDI mockup to live orchestral recording
2. The practical side of composing for clients and visual media
- Workflow and timing when scoring to picture
- Dealing with feedback, deadlines, and changing edits
- Working with temp tracks and musical references
- Presenting your work to clients or directors

Perfect! Pim is een goede en leuke leraar! Hoe breng je balans aan in je mix, hoe stel je een compressor goed in, etc Leerzame middag gehad op naar de volgende!
- Super duidelijk wat Bas graag wil leren. De komende tijd bezig met: EQen, maken van ruimte voor de stem, plaatsing in het stereobeeld, compressor instellen, contrasten tussen secties van songs vergroten! Goed bezig!Pim's response :

Pim is super onderlegd in het vak en met name in de muziek productie. Hij heeft extreem veel ervaring, geduld en was altijd betrouwbaar en gemotiveerd tijdens de vele projecten die we samen gedaan hebben voor binnen en buitenlandse klanten van over de hele wereld! Een super collega en vriend. Hij zal je favoriete leraar worden, gegarandeerd ;)!
Pim is top. We hebben meer dan 6 jaar samengewerkt bij een groot, internationaal mediabedrijf en tijdens mijn stage was hij mijn mentor. Hij is creatief, empathisch, heeft een goed oor - voor de ander, maar ook voor geluidskwaliteit en muziek. Met een goed gevoel voor humor creëert hij een ontspannen sfeer waar je goed kan ontwikkelen. Hij staat open voor een diversiteit aan stijlen en technieken, met onverminderd enthousiasme.
