About Madranges
Hi, I’m Jeanne! I just finished my PhD in biology at McGill, and I’m all about showing how fun and fascinating biology can be. I love simplifying tricky concepts so they actually make sense and stick with you. Outside of science, I’m into drawing and crafting—Halloween is my jam, and I even won first place in McGill’s graduate Halloween costume contest! I’ve also travelled quite a bit, but Montreal is one of my favourite place and I would like to stay here. Let’s dive into biology together and make it fun!

I am an enthusiastic tutor with a strong foundation in molecular and cellular biology, genetics, and neurobiology. My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering genuine understanding rather than plain memorisation. I believe biology is fascinating and can be very fun when taught in an engaging, tailored way.
Teaching Methodology and Techniques:
I begin each session by discussing the student's specific challenges and goals to create a personalised plan. By breaking down complex concepts into manageable pieces and using analogies or visual aids, I help students see the connections between topics and apply their knowledge. I emphasise active participation, asking questions and encouraging students to explain concepts back to me, solidifying their understanding.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
Identify the student’s focus areas or topics of confusion.
Provide a concise explanation with relevant examples.
Solve practice questions or discuss real-world applications to reinforce learning.
Summarise key points and address lingering questions.

I aim to make biology enjoyable and relatable, not just an academic requirement. I adapt my lessons to fit the learning pace and style of each student, ensuring they leave each session confident in their grasp of the material. My enthusiasm for the subject is infectious, inspiring students to approach biology with curiosity and excitement.
