During my working life as Team Leader with responsibility for the development of those in my team I have gained great pleasure in providing guidance and support to all individuals as they seek to achieve their ambitions. I am currently writing a book that addresses the gaps between what is taught in business school and those qualities held by highly successful CEOs. As a past spokesperson for the Chartered Management Institute and CPD officer my advice to all students was to remember that Employers are only responsible for providing employment, we all are responsible for maintaining our 'employability'. My approach to teaching is to always start with the big picture before dropping into the detail. Strategy first followed by Structure and then Content. (Chandler 1962)
