About Samantha
As a Peer Learning Associate (PLA) and Student Ambassador at my college, I already know how to help students with assignments and engage them in conversations about what they are studying. I am a student academic who has undergone intense study of American History since 2013, when I began doing historical research at a competitive level. I have since taken every advanced course on history or government in my reach, and today, I am over halfway finished with a degree in Political Science, Public Policy, and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. I aim to get a Master of Public Policy and a PhD in Government after college, then hopefully teach about the fields after I am finished, so I am very serious about learning and teaching.

As a current student myself, I know what helps to keep students engaged and what doesn't. I like to try creative teaching methods, and enjoy working one on one with students, particularly those who want to dive headfirst into the material.
My specialties include:
•American History Following the Civil War- I am a social and industrial history specialist rather than a military specialist. My area of focus include the Progressive Era, early American cinema, American culture during WWII, the Civil Rights Movement, Watergate, Feminist History (see below), and Queer History.
•The History of Feminism and Feminist Thought- my specialty is the "Second Wave" of American feminism (1970s-90s), but I have knowledge of different time periods and countries as well.
•Civic Education- with several years as a youth organizer and political activist, I can engage students in conversations about the importance of voting, government and policy structure, how to organize people for the greater good, and much more!
