About Josiah
I’m an incredibly outgoing person and easily get along with individuals from all age groups, which makes my tutoring sessions more lively and typically prevents burnout and disengagement, allowing the student to obtain the most from the sessions. I have a genuine passion for math and enjoy every moment I get to help others out and help them understand it as best as I can, and refuse to stop trying until I at least see progress. By the end of every session that I have, the students have a smile on their face and come out having learned something and want to reconnect.

In my experience tutoring students, I’ve found that everyone has their own way of conceptualizing and approaching math problems, and the disconnect between struggling students and their teachers typically comes from the teacher not understanding that very idea, and thus not being able to adjust their explanations in a meaningful way to each different student. I always try to work with the student to identify where their head is, and shape my lesson in a way that is tailored to their style of learning math. When learning math like this, my students usually find that learning math excites them and it becomes much easier for them.
