About LI
Hello, I am Lily Ji. I earned math degree from Baruch College. I have been tutoring since high school at school's tutoring center. Education has been a long-held interest for me as I have found both through personal experience and observation that students can really thrive and learn a great deal when given the chance. Since high school, I have also found that I really enjoy mathematics with all of its conjecturing, proofs, and problem-solving. My hope is that the education and experiences I receive here will help me to foster an interest for learning mathematics and critical thinking in other students. Outside of math education, I enjoy playing the poker, majiang and listening to jazz music, learning about random science facts, and other hobbies.

The single most effective strategy that I have used to teach mathematics is the Concrete Representational Abstract approach. During the concrete step, students use real-life objects or models to explore a concept. I will guide a student through the solution process, not just show how it's done. Ask the student leading questions that will direct him or her to discover the correct steps. Avoid doing problems for the student.
