About Layla
My passion for mathematics began in my early years when I became fascinated by patterns, numbers, and logical reasoning. This curiosity motivated me to pursue a B.Sc in Mathematics followed by an M.Sc in Applied Mathematics, where I cultivated both theoretical understanding and practical analytical skills. Over the course of 10 years, I have taught students at various levels, from beginners struggling with foundational concepts to advanced learners exploring complex mathematical applications. Throughout this time, I have developed a teaching style that combines patience, clarity, and interactive engagement to ensure that every student grasps the material fully.
I emphasise personalised learning, carefully assessing each student’s strengths and areas for improvement. My approach integrates problem-solving exercises, visual aids, conceptual discussions, and real-world applications to help learners build both competence and confidence. I encourage active participation, curiosity, and independent thinking, fostering an environment where students feel supported and motivated to tackle challenging problems without hesitation.
Outside of teaching, I remain engaged with the broader field of mathematics by exploring research topics, computational modelling, and real-life applications across science, engineering, and technology. By incorporating these insights into my lessons, I provide learners with a sense of the relevance and beauty of mathematics beyond the classroom. Advanced learners explore abstract algebra, advanced calculus, optimisation problems, and applied mathematics in real-world scenarios. Each session incorporates guided practice, conceptual discussions, and applied problem-solving to reinforce understanding, boost reasoning skills, and ensure mastery over the material.
Mathematics is not only a subject but also a tool for developing structured thinking, logical reasoning, and intellectual confidence.
