About Owen
My fascination with mathematics developed from an early interest in patterns, logic, and problem-solving. This curiosity led me to earn a B.Sc in Mathematics and an M.Sc in Applied Mathematics, combining strong theoretical knowledge with practical problem-solving expertise. Over 9 years, I have guided learners from foundational arithmetic to advanced modelling and abstract mathematical concepts, helping them build confidence, analytical skills, and mastery of complex ideas.
I teach with patience, clarity, and engagement, combining visual aids, practical examples, and structured problem-solving exercises. I emphasise understanding over memorisation, encouraging independent thinking, inquiry, and analytical exploration. My lessons balance conceptual comprehension, practice, and real-world application, ensuring students develop confidence and mastery in mathematics.
Outside teaching, I continue exploring applied mathematics, research projects, and problem-solving challenges to enrich my lessons with relevance and innovation. Watching learners develop critical reasoning, curiosity, and mathematical proficiency is deeply rewarding. I strive to guide students towards both academic success and a lasting appreciation for the elegance and utility of mathematics in daily life.

Lesson plans are customised to each student. Beginners focus on arithmetic, basic algebra, and geometry to establish clear, fundamental understanding. Intermediate learners explore calculus, probability, combinatorics, and multi-step problem-solving to strengthen analytical reasoning and confidence. Advanced learners engage in linear algebra, abstract algebra, optimisation, and mathematical modelling to prepare for competitions, research projects, or advanced coursework. Each session emphasises guided practice, reasoning, and conceptual reinforcement to ensure mastery and problem-solving proficiency.
