About Jake
My journey in mathematics began with a fascination for patterns, problem-solving, and logical structures that underlie the natural world. This interest led me to complete a B.Sc in Mathematics followed by an M.Sc in Applied Mathematical Sciences, where I explored both abstract reasoning and practical applications. Over the past 10 years, I have guided learners through a wide range of mathematical topics, emphasising understanding, critical thinking, and real-world connections.
My teaching approach is focused on clarity, patience, and adaptability. I break down complex topics into simple, digestible steps, use practical examples, and encourage students to explore concepts independently. I aim to instil confidence by showing learners how to connect ideas and solve problems systematically, rather than relying solely on memorisation. Every student receives individualised support tailored to their strengths and learning style.
Outside of teaching, I engage in mathematical modelling, academic research, and problem-solving challenges, which enrich my lessons and provide real-world relevance. Teaching mathematics is deeply fulfilling because I witness learners transform from uncertainty to clarity, gaining both confidence and intellectual curiosity. My goal is to cultivate independent, analytical thinkers who thrive academically and personally, equipped with strong logical reasoning skills.

Mathematics becomes exciting and meaningful when learners see it as a toolkit for reasoning, problem-solving, and understanding the world rather than just a set of rules. In my lessons, I guide students through algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, probability, and logical thinking using structured explanations, interactive problem-solving, and real-world examples. I focus on developing a strong conceptual framework that allows learners to approach any problem systematically. Every session combines worked examples, exercises, and feedback to foster understanding, analytical skill, and confidence. My goal is to make mathematics approachable, intellectually stimulating, and deeply rewarding for learners of all levels.
Lessons are tailored to the student’s experience and comfort with mathematics. Beginners focus on fundamental arithmetic, basic equations, geometric shapes, and introductory problem-solving strategies. Intermediate learners explore more complex algebraic manipulation, functional analysis, trigonometry applications, and probability reasoning. Advanced learners tackle calculus, optimisation, multi-step problems, and higher-order logic to prepare for competitive exams or academic progression. Every lesson emphasises clarity, reinforcement, and independent thinking to ensure sustained learning and confidence.
Mathematics lessons also cultivate patience, analytical reasoning, and self-confidence.
