My lessons on math generally start with a small test to figure out what the student knows. I will start with the areas the student struggles the most in. When teaching I use 3 different methods simultaneously. I have my students take notes as I talk and write the notes down, following up with examples for them to solve. This method utilizes visual, audio and recall as the students will be seeing, hearing and doing. This is very effective and allows for long lasting retention of studies.
