About Elizabeth
My name is Ms. Grant. This is what a majority of the people I know call me. I have been in education for 20 years now. I have taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I have taught in a large number of school districts throughout McHenry and Lake Counties here in Illinois. I have been the manager of a tutoring company. I have privately tutored and tutored through companies for 22 years. I have my teaching certificate and a Master's in Mathematics Education. Currently, I am a math teacher at the high school level.

My teaching method and techniques change depending on the individual learner. For the most part with math, I have to have some sort of explain/show portion of how I teach and then the rest of the time is the student practicing, making mistakes, and applying what I taught again to help master the skill or reaffirm past skills. In reading and writing, my teaching style depends on the topic at hand, but mostly, I enjoy discussion and interaction to teach those concepts. What sets me apart is my experience. I have been a teacher's aide, a long-term substitute, an elementary teacher, a middle school history, math, reading, and writing teacher, a high school math teacher, a private tutor and a tutor through a company. I have also been the manager of a tutoring company and hired tutors to work with students after school in math and reading, so I not only am a phenomenal tutor, I have had to find other phenomenal tutors in my career.
