My Approach to Tutoring
As a PhD student with a strong research background in science, I understand that learning can sometimes feel overwhelming when concepts aren't explained in a way that makes sense to you. My goal as a tutor is to make learning approachable, engaging, and enjoyable while helping students build confidence in their abilities.
I believe that every student can succeed when given the right support. Rather than focusing solely on memorization, I help students develop a genuine understanding of concepts so they can apply their knowledge independently and with confidence. I create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as these are important parts of the learning process.
Teaching Style and Methodology
I tailor every lesson to the individual student's needs, learning style, and goals. Whether a student needs help catching up, consolidating their understanding, or extending their knowledge, I adapt my approach to help them achieve their best.
My lessons typically include:
Clear, step-by-step explanations of key concepts
Interactive discussions and guided problem-solving
Practice activities to reinforce understanding
Strategies for improving study habits and confidence
Regular feedback to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement
For science, I focus on helping students understand the "why" behind concepts rather than simply memorizing facts. For primary mathematics, I build strong foundational skills and problem-solving confidence. For primary English, I support students in developing reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and communication skills.
Lesson Length
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although I can offer shorter sessions for younger learners or longer sessions when additional support is needed.
Qualifications and Experience
I hold a Master of Research degree and am currently undertaking a PhD, giving me extensive experience in scientific research, critical thinking, data analysis, and academic communication.
Through my academic journey, I have developed strong skills in explaining complex ideas clearly and adapting information to different levels of understanding. I am passionate about education and enjoy helping students build both knowledge and confidence in their learning.
