About Rachel
Outside of being a teacher, I love to read (I know, typical). Something I really value is that you can escape to wherever in a book without having to leave your house; it's an endless way to have experiences. When I'm not reading, I am with my two dogs and going to concerts.
Just like reading, music is another way to connect. The two almost go hand in hand! I love finding connections between literary skills and lyrical writing.
I am very passionate about advocacy for students' learning! I pride myself on doing my best to accommodate each learner's needs.

Teaching children and teens how to love reading and develop a passion for learning, rather than being intimidated by challenge. My goal is to teach your child to persevere through challenges during learning, while encouraging them to take a risk out of their comfort zone! The skill set under "Reading" is one that will carry your student throughout the rest of their lives.
Typically, I arrange my lessons around a text or article. The skills students work on are a spiraled approach that introduces and reintroduces concepts to encourage mastery. I do not teach skills in isolation, that is why each lesson is uniquely arranged around the text/topic.
I have experience across multiple grade levels, teaching 4th to 8th grades during my time in the classroom. I am able to support all types of learners, all kids deserve to learn!
