About Dominic
Hi there, my name is Dominic and I have worked in various roles over the years but have seven years of experience tutoring in a variety of subjects, and across a range of age groups. I have obtained my qualification as a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teacher through the International TEFL school. I am currently a super tutor on Preply and have taught over 1000 hours on the site, securing a 5* rating from my students. In addition to being Masters-educated, I am also an accredited psychotherapist, which, I believe, gives me a deeper insight into the unique challenges that different students may face. Ultimately, however, I love to teach and will bring a great deal of enthusiasm and patience to the role. I have helped many students obtain places at the schools and universities of their choosing. Generally, I delight in the moment when a subject or idea that seemed previously unintelligible dawns suddenly and feel privileged to be a part of these. My methodology involves a Socratic approach with a good deal of active learning - I believe that it's important to check in with the student continually and to ensure that the material is provided in a stimulating style. Ultimately, moreover, I hold to a philosophy in which the onus is on the teacher to make lessons engaging and instructive for each learner. I have little truck with either a punitive or mechanical learning methodology.
