About Oliver
I have completed both my Undergraduate (2:1) and Postgraduate degrees in Sport and Exercise Science, with a speciality in sports psychology, sports management, nutrition and physical health. I have worked with a wide variety of people during my time at University and have a sound understanding of how to approach different styles of learning. During my degrees, I worked within an elite sports scouting company and also as a sport psychologist for the University sports teams. I have a passion for helping others to gain new knowledge, as well as enhancing their existing knowledge. I have an empathetic approach that helps me to understand where others struggle most and how to display my knowledge is the most clear and coherent way for others to grasp.

My method of teaching is based around context and breaking down topics. Firstly, I liked to give context to the wider picture. For example why are we learning about this and how does this interact with other topics and knowledge. Following that, I like to break things down into smaller bite size chunks that help to improve concentration and develop a better understanding. Interactive tasks and discussions are also key to learning a subject with a sound understanding. By giving students the opportunity to put what they have learnt into an interactive tasks compounds the understanding and enhances recall. It also helps to make the sessions more fun and enjoyable that listening to someone talk for hours on end. Then following this a discussion, in which students talk through the processes themselves, as if they were teaching it, helps to identify any clear gaps in the knowledge and understanding.
