About Nicholas
I have been teaching for approximately 3 years now. I have worked with adults, teenagers, and children from all different kinds of backgrounds. When I first started I was a teaching assistant for 3 months and then I was promoted to lead teacher even though I had no prior experience teaching. The reason I mention this is because it shows how dedicated I am to my craft and willing I am to help my students reach their goals. While I was a teacher I assisted students in going from a 30% overall proficiency reading level to an 85% proficiency reading level. Although, I am dedicated and passionate about my work I am also very patient because I understand how hard it is to learn a new language. I also speak Spanish and am currently trying to learn Thai.

In my lessons I like to take a tutor approach. This means that I will assess your current level and then begin to work with you to find out what type of approach is best. In other words, After our first meeting I will let you know my game plan and strategy to help you best achieve your goals. I like to use analogy's a lot when teaching because I feel that it creates a sense of relevance which allows you to better understand the content that is being taught. A typical lesson plan would be a brief check in (5 min), followed by an overview of the previous lesson (10 minutes), followed by an interactive introduction of new material (20 minutes), which will then finally end with some practicing and discussion. All in all most lessons last from 45-60 minutes. These lessons are for beginner to advanced levels. I also do uninformative classes such as learning about American culture through discussions and practices.
