About Amanda
I have worked in education for 27 year. I worked as a paraprofessional, a teacher, and an administrator. 25 of my 27 years have been in special education. I have taught multiple subjects, including English, Algebra, Biology, U.S. History, Government, Psychology, Sociology, Remediation, Executive Functioning Skills, and Life Skills. I also love music and theatre and am well-versed in music theory as I have played piano for the last 41 years. I have a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education, a Master's Degree in Special Education, and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership. I love learning and I love helping others learn. Teaching is a true calling. Even though I may work in administration, I still love teaching and working directly with students and coming up with creative solutions to help students be successful.

I teach using patience, creativity, and compassion. Every student learns differently and it is my job to figure out what helps each student learn. Special education isn't a place or a person, it is the methods of teaching that require changing and adapting to various situations and adjusting our techniques for individual learners and individual situations. I strive to get to know my students and find topics that interest them to help keep them engaged and excited about learning. Learning should be fun and they should look as forward to our time working together as I do.
