About Callum
I am a recent master's graduate from the University of Exeter, where I did my degree in Electronic Engineering. I have worked on complex projects within this field and used a lot of math and physics principles. From this, I have a vast knowledge of math and can aid anyone at any level in any area of the subject. The reason I would like to get into tutoring is that I enjoy solving problems and helping others understand these concepts. During my degree, I found myself having to teach others and myself very difficult areas within engineering and I refined my own understanding and I felt it was rewarding when someone goes from being stuck to feeling confident. First and foremost, I promote a calm and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions and engage with me and the problems. I will go at the pace of the students and adapt my teaching to the individual and make sure they fully understand the concepts.

My techniques involve encouraging critical thinking in my students, allowing them to question every part of a problem and getting them to digest the question into workable chunks. I try to build up a strong foundation with the areas they struggle with and assure them by getting them to recall information to help them with trickier problems. I help them with worked examples and show them the steps to solve the question and then give them independent practice and let them solve the problems on their own. Most importantly, I go at their own speed, they dictate the pace of the lesson and what they are learning. I'm purely guiding them and helping them wherever they need. Length of lessons can range between 1 hour to 1.5 hours depending, and my lessons are for ages between 10-18 years of age. My qualifications are teaching a few students at GCSE levels privately while I was working on my degree.
