About Raymond
My name is Raymond Luongo. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I have also lived in Manhattan; Chicago, Illinois; Madison, Wisconsin; Portland, Oregon, and Valle d'Aosta, Italy. In 2004 I emigrated to Australia with my spouse, Carolyne, who is Australian by birth. During my younger years, I enjoyed a wonderful career as a chef, where I worked in most of the above cities. In 1994, when I was living in Chicago, I began my training in Taekwon-Do, and I received my First Degree Black belt in 1997. This event led me to teaching the Martial Arts to children, and from that first class, I knew that I wanted to teach, so I decided to change careers. Since this experience, I have taught in several different platforms, including Primary School, Casual teaching, online, and continued Martial Arts. Teaching is my true ambition! And people tell me that I am good at it. :-)

I take a friendly, supportive approach to tutoring, creating a positive environment where students feel comfortable and motivated to learn. I have extensive experience teaching online, including working with English Language Learners in Central America, teaching my primary classroom remotely for over a year during COVID, and providing individual support to students after school.
As an educator, I believe in facilitating learning rather than taking an authoritative approach. I prioritize establishing trust and empathy from the very beginning. When students feel safe and supported, they are more willing to take risks and make mistakes—an essential part of the learning process.
My promise to you is that I will meet you exactly where you are in your learning, and I will tailor my lessons to suit your individual needs and goals. My passion is helping you build confidence and achieve meaningful progress with every session!
