About Raymond
Hello, my name is Raymond Afrane. I am a dedicated science educator with over 14 years of teaching experience, and I am passionate about helping young people unlock their potential through learning. I originally trained as a physicist, earning a Master’s degree in Solid State Physics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. That background gave me a strong foundation not only in physics, but in logical thinking, problem-solving, and perseverance. But more importantly, it sparked something deeper in me—a desire to teach. I’ve always believed that science should be more than facts in a textbook. It should be exciting, relatable, and accessible to everyone. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching hundreds of students and seeing them grow—not just in knowledge, but in confidence and curiosity. That’s the most rewarding part of this journey. Now, as I near completion of my PGCE at Nottingham Trent University, I’m more committed than ever to creating learning environments where students feel supported, understood, and inspired. I teach because I believe that every young person deserves a chance to understand the world around them—and to believe that they are capable of making sense of it. Whether it’s helping someone conquer their fear of chemistry, biology, physics, or guiding them to top exam results, I’m here to support them every step of the way. If you’re looking for a teacher who brings experience, patience, and a personal approach to every lesson, I’d love to be part of your learning journey.

My name is Raymond Antwi Afrane, and I bring over 14 years of classroom experience and a lifelong passion for science into every lesson I teach. I hold a Master’s degree in Solid State Physics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, and I am currently completing my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at Nottingham Trent University. Throughout my career, I’ve taught students of all abilities in a range of settings—helping them not just pass exams but truly understand the world around them. My goal in private tuition is to make science approachable, engaging, and tailored to your needs. My Teaching Philosophy I believe every student is capable of excelling in science when taught in a way that makes sense to them. Science isn’t just about memorising facts—it’s about asking questions, seeing connections, and building confidence step-by-step. That’s why I focus on: Breaking down complex topics into manageable parts. Using real-life examples to make learning relevant and memorable. Adapting my teaching style to suit each student’s pace, strengths, and preferred way of learning. Encouraging questions and discussion—because learning is a two-way process. Whether we’re working on GCSE Physics, building exam confidence, or diving into tricky concepts like electricity or energy transfers, my approach is friendly, calm, and always student-focused. What You Can Expect If you choose to learn with me, expect more than just tutoring. Expect a supportive mentor who genuinely wants to see you succeed. Lessons will be: Structured but flexible Aligned with your school curriculum Interactive, using past papers, visuals, and clear explanations Focused on understanding first, then mastering exam technique I also believe in celebrating progress, no matter how small—because confidence grows from success. Final Thoughts Teaching is more than a job for me—it's a calling. I’ve dedicated my life to helping young people make sense of science, grow in confidence, and achieve their goals. Whether you're struggling with school science or aiming for top grades, I’d love to help you get there. Let’s make science something you can enjoy, understand, and succeed in—together.
